The Vision

Why This Gathering Matters

The World Economic Forum's 2025 Global Gender Gap Report estimates it will take 123 years to achieve full gender parity. The Sikh Women's Symposium is a direct response — rooted in the Gurmat principle that Ik Ong Kaar makes every soul equal.

Guru Nanak's Teaching

"From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived." — Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 473

Guru Amar Das Ji

Appointed women as preachers and leaders. Abolished purdah for Sikh women and encouraged full participation in Sangat.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji

Created the Khalsa open equally to women and men. Sikh women took Amrit and became Kaur — Princess and Lioness of God.

Historic Sikh Women

The Women Who Shaped Sikh History

Bebe Nanki JiFirst to recognise Guru Nanak's divine light. Scholar, poet and spiritual guardian.

Mata Khivi JiEstablished the tradition of free Langar — the embodiment of equality and selfless service.

Mata Gujri JiMother of the Chaar Sahibzaade. Her courage inspired her grandsons to choose martyrdom.

Bibi Bhani JiDaughter of Guru Amar Das Ji — the embodiment of devotion, sacrifice and grace.

Rani Sahib Kaur18th century warrior queen who led armies to defend Sikh sovereignty.

Bibi Gulab KaurFirst Sikh woman revolutionary, leader in the Ghadar movement.

Yogi Bhajan's Vision

The Aquarian Woman

"The coming age belongs to the woman who is graceful, powerful and conscious. She will lead not through dominance but through her capacity to heal, to hold, and to uplift the entire family of humanity."

— Yogi Bhajan
